Boot Camp Rushcutters Bay – Sydney
Hey guy’s,
Killer workout this morning at Rushcutters Bay, we’re at the end of week 3 now and everyone’s strength has increased dramatically since we started just a few short weeks ago.
As you can see by the workouts the circuit’s are getting tougher but the variations of the exercises are much more fun.
Today we started off with a 20 minute total body circuit working all the major muscle groups, followed by high intensity cardio for 15 minutes which included hills, stairs and different types of sprint variations.
These types of workouts are awesome for burning calories, increasing your metabolism and losing body fat. Boot camp instructor Emiliano has written an article explaining the benefits of circuit training – check it out.

Have a look at the video and see what circuit training is about – you run through a range of different exercises using anything from basic body weight exercises to the dumbells, kettlebells and medicine balls.
The idea behind circuit training is simple – spend a short time on one exercise, then immediately move on to another. The rest times are limited so your heart is always pumping.
One benefit is that you use one major muscle group, say your back, and you then give it a chance to recover while you exercise another muscle group, say your legs.
It's continuous and challenging but the way we've set up the circuits, you are combining cardio with strength training.
Why are circuits good?
Well there is variety for one. You are not just slogging yourself on the one thing for an hour, like you often end up doing with the treadmill or the stationary bike. That sort of approach can challenge the boredom threshold of the most committed.
It also offers a whole body work out – there is not a part of your body that is going to escape.
Circuit training may be a relatively new for some people. But its been around for years. Athletes down the generations used it – mainly because the workouts can be relatively sedate to workouts (if you want to go there) which can offer hurt and pain of biblical proportions.
Professional athletes use circuit training because it develops whole body fitness. It also helps reduce the chances of injury that can result from muscle imbalances caused by specialising in sport like cycling, rowing or say running.
And I like it because with a group of you it's fun – again you are learning something new which is going to develop your overall co-ordination as well as your overall fitness.
Please have a look at the video – there were smiles there as well as the sweat.
