Tabata Training – Bondi Beach Boot Camp
Tabata training was developed by Izumi Tabata at the National Institute of Fitness and sports in Tokyo Japan.
I won’t bore you with all the details of the study so ill keep it short…
Tabata training is killer for burning fat and increasing your metabolism – in fact it’s probably the best fat burning workout around.
Tabata training can be done with sprint training or with various types of exercises that work the whole body or at least many of the major muscle groups.
The Tabata protocol is 20 seconds of high intensity training followed by 10 seconds of low/medium intensity training for 8 cycles (about 4 minutes). For best results I recommend completing 2-3 sets which is 8-12 minutes of exercise.
This might sound easy but it ain’t – it’s tough.
That’s the great thing about this type of workout, you get awesome results in a very short workout – so no more long boring cardio sessions.
We often use Tabata training at our Sydney boot camps in circuits using dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, Olympic rings and bodyweight exercises.
Some great exercises for a Tabata workout include:
Dumbell push up and row
Kettlebell clean, squat and press
Dumbbell thruster
Push up burpee
Sprints
Kettlebell swings
Give it a go – how hard can four minutes be?
Train Hard!
